About us

Local Property Partners is a boutique residential property management agency based in Perth, Western Australia. We are operated by Daria Tedling, Director and Licensee (Triennial Licence No. RA85442), and provide property management, tenant placement, rental appraisal, and shared accommodation services across the Perth metropolitan area.

This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" refers to Local Property Partners. "You" refers to any individual whose personal information we collect.

What personal information we collect

We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our services. The kind of information we collect depends on your relationship with us.

Property owners and landlords

Contact details, property ownership and address details, bank account details for rental disbursements, identity documents for trust account compliance, and tax file number where required for non-resident PAYG withholding.

Tenants and rental applicants

Contact details, date of birth, current and previous addresses, employment and income information, rental and tenancy history, identity documents, references, and emergency contacts. Where applicable, visa and residency status, and National Police Clearance for shared accommodation.

Contractors, suppliers and referees

Contact details and information relevant to the services being provided or the reference being given.

Website visitors and enquirers

Contact details submitted via our enquiry forms, and general analytics data described in Section 5.

We do not generally collect sensitive information unless it is reasonably necessary to provide our services, and only with your consent.

If you choose not to provide your information

If you choose not to provide the personal information we request, some or all of the following may apply:

  • We may not be able to assess your rental application or proceed with a tenancy
  • We may not be able to enter into a property management agreement with you
  • We may not be able to respond to your enquiry or provide an appraisal
  • We may not be able to meet our compliance obligations under WA tenancy law on your behalf

Where information is essential, we will tell you at the point of collection.

How and why we collect your information

We collect personal information directly from you wherever practicable, including via our website forms, by email, by phone, in person, or through documents you provide. In some cases we collect information from third parties such as previous landlords, employers, or tenancy databases, with your consent where required.

We use your personal information to:

  • Provide property management and tenancy services
  • Assess rental applications and shared accommodation suitability
  • Communicate with you about your tenancy, property, or enquiry
  • Meet our legal and regulatory obligations under WA tenancy law and trust accounting requirements
  • Send you information about our services where you have consented or where permitted by law

We will not use your personal information for any purpose incompatible with the reason it was collected, unless you consent or we are required to do so by law.

Who we share your information with

  • Government bodies and regulators, including the WA Bond Administrator for bond lodgement
  • Service providers who help us operate our business, such as software, communications, analytics, and payment processing platforms
  • Professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, and auditors bound by confidentiality
  • Legal and regulatory authorities where required by law

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers, including our website platform and certain software tools we use to run our business, store or process data on servers located outside Australia, primarily in the United States. Before disclosing personal information to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure those recipients handle the information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We hold personal information in both electronic and, where necessary, paper form. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Our measures include:

  • Restricted internal access on a need-to-know basis
  • Secure handling of identity and financial documents
  • Use of reputable third-party platforms with industry-standard security practices

We retain personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. Once information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.

While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure. Information transmitted over the internet is transmitted at your own risk. If you have concerns about the security of information you have provided to us, please contact us.

Marketing and opt-out

From time to time we may contact property owners and prospective owners with information about our services, market updates, rental appraisals, or events, in accordance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We will only do so where you have consented or where we are otherwise permitted to do so by law.

We do not use the personal information of tenants or rental applicants for direct marketing.

You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us at hello@localpropertypartners.com.au.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the following rights:

  • Access. You may request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction. If information we hold is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, or misleading, you may ask us to correct it
  • Anonymity. Where practicable, you may deal with us anonymously. For tenancy and property management services, providing your identity is generally required
  • Withdraw consent. Where we rely on your consent to process information, you may withdraw that consent at any time, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain certain records

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond to access and correction requests within 30 days. A reasonable fee may apply for access requests where permitted by law. Where we are unable to grant access or make a correction, we will provide written reasons.

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or otherwise mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can attempt to resolve the matter directly. Email us at hello@localpropertypartners.com.au with the subject line "Privacy Complaint". We will acknowledge your complaint within five business days and respond substantively within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
